    Apply for ICC!

The 18th International Camp on Communications and Computers (ICC) brings blind and partially sighted people together and offers the chance to develop your potentials, skills and intellectual capacities.

ICC 2012 is a unique opportunity to learn how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Assistive Technologies (AT) enrich your life. It’s not the technology itself, it is training social skills and the intercultural being together which allows young people to learn from one another, to discuss, to understand and to accept their own situation and thus to learn how to work and gain independence in the future.

Each year about one hundred students from more than 25 countries can enjoy plenty of opportunities for intercultural activities, communication and networking, planning for future studying and job integration, fun and leisure activities. Come and get involved!

Each year there is a different host country. This time the location is: High School for Visually Impaired, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. For students aged 17-20 years, the camp will be held between 1st and 8th of August, 2012.

The participation fee, covering all expenses for the week is €400 per participant, not including the travel costs. Thankfully IT Foundation for the Visually Impaired („Informatika a Látássérültekért” Alapítvány) gives two people the chance to take part in the camp by giving financial support.

Regarding the language used at the camp it is English, therefore having good English speaking skills is important to benefit from the programmes. During the day the participants attend workshops that are selected previously from a list of more than 20 workshops (3 or 6 hours each), e.g. focusing on the latest ICT/AT (e.g. Internet, music, speech input, games, programming), social and presentation skills, daily living skills, ICT and AT supported mobility, hints and tips about university studies, job search and labour market integration skills etc. In the evenings and on the excursion day various leisure time activities are available: e.g. chess championship, sight-seeing, bowling, tandem bicycling, horse-riding or swimming, also planned: a visit to the Ethnographical Museum of Transylvania, and on the excursion day a trip toTurda Salt mine & barbecue in the forest.
